Strengthening Economic Development Opportunities

To more effectively respond to potential economic development opportunities, the Algonquins of Ontario (AOO) are working to develop a comprehensive economic profile of the AOO. This economic profile will be developed through a three-step process:

  1. Development of an Algonquins of Ontario Business Directory: This Directory will be made publicly available to the Governments of Canada, Ontario, municipalities and private sector interests in order to highlight the availability of Algonquin personnel, equipment and materials for future projects. This resource will be an invaluable tool in creating a long-term sustainable economy for the Algonquins of Ontario.
  2. Business Survey of Algonquin Entrepreneurs: This survey, adapted from the 2002 Aboriginal Entrepreneurs Survey by Statistics Canada, will be distributed to Algonquin Entrepreneurs. The information to be collected will provide greater insights into the economic capacity of Algonquin-owned businesses, including their strengths, needs and future goals. All information to be collected will be kept strictly confidential.
  3. Inventory of Qualifications, Skills and Training Requirements: This third step will involve reaching out to all Algonquins of Ontario to develop a better understanding of the qualifications, skills and training requirements existing within the AOO communities. This knowledge will help tremendously as the AOO begin to plan for our future needs. Watch for this survey, coming soon!
