Ratification Vote on the Proposed Agreement-in-Principle
A vote was held on February 29, 2016 to March 7, 2016 on the proposed Agreement-in-Principle among the Algonquins of Ontario and the Governments of Ontario and Canada.
On December 2, 2015, the Algonquins of Ontario (AOO) announced a ratification vote on a proposed Agreement-in-Principle (AIP). The ratification vote was held between February 29th and March 7th, 2016.
The proposed AIP is the culmination of years of negotiations among the AOO and the Governments of Canada and Ontario. If ratified, it will represent a significant first step towards reaching a modern-day Treaty that would be protected under section 35 of the Constitution Act, 1982.
The proposed AIP is not a legally binding document. Rather, it represents a statement of the main elements of a settlement of the Algonquin Land Claim and provides the framework for future negotiations towards a Final Agreement that will have the legal status of a modern-day Treaty.

2015 FINAL VOTERS LIST
The Final Voters List identifies all persons who applied and were deemed eligible to vote under Chapter 15 of the proposed AIP. Given the conclusion of the ratification vote on the proposed AIP, the 2015 Final Voters List has been removed from this website.
2015 FINAL VOTERS LIST (SUPPLEMENTARY)
The Supplementary Final Voters List identified additional persons who applied and were deemed eligible to vote under Chapter 15 of the proposed AIP, but were accidentally omitted from the 2015 Final Voters List posted on December 2, 2015 as determined by the Ratification Vote Manager. Given the conclusion of the ratification vote on the proposed AIP, the 2015 Final Voters List (Supplementary) has been removed from this website.
FORM 9: CERTIFICATION OF VOTE RESULTS BY RATIFICATION VOTE MANAGER
The Ratification Vote Manager for the proposed Agreement-in-Principle among the Algonquins of Ontario and the Governments of Ontario and Canada declares after counting all of the Ballots placed in all of the ballot boxes the results of the vote.
The ratification vote will be held on February 29, 2016 to March 7, 2016 on the proposed Agreement-in-Principle among the Algonquins of Ontario and the Governments of Ontario and Canada. The results of the vote are anticipated to be released by the Ratification Vote Manager no later than end of day on Thursday, March 17, 2016 on www.tanakiwin.com.
